Our Story
A birthday gift became something personal that we wanted to share with other mahjong players.
It started with a birthday gift.
Mahj My Mat began in the USA when Jenny went looking for a custom mahjong mat for her longtime best friend Sara’s birthday. She had something specific in mind—personal, beautiful, and completely Sara—but couldn’t find a place that could bring it to life.
So her husband, Nick, decided to create one.
What started as a birthday gift quickly became something the three of us genuinely loved. With the help of AI, we began designing mats that felt personal, weaving in inside jokes, hobbies, and favorite colors. We figured other mahjong players might want to do the same.

Mahj My Mat officially launched in August 2026, with Nick, Jenny, and Sara bringing their own strengths to our little team, from design and creativity to making sure every detail is just right.
We’re new, we’re local, and we’re excited to create mats that feel as unique as the people gathered around them.
Made for many game nights to come
Our mats are made in Hong Kong and printed in full color on a comfortable 3 mm thick surface and finished with sewn edges for lasting durability. Each one comes with a storage bag, ready for the many mahjong games ahead.
